Harper rolled over!! WOO HOO!!! Go Harper Go Harper Go!! My babies hate being on their tummies. I am not talking kind of fussy about it, but immediately mad, cry until you puke, kind of hate it. I don't make them do it, thus I have always feared I would have little girls with no upper body strength, flat spots on the back of their heads, and they would never be mobile. Well, Olivia is just fine and hit all of her milestones on target and has a beautifully shaped head. So three and a half years later- enter our Harper Barber Boo (nothing rhymes with Harper..) and I have allowed her to happily play on her back for 5 1/2 months. I seriously only put her on her stomach for minutes each day at the most. She finally rolled from tummy to back on Wednesday March 7. I had set her down on her tummy in her crib so I could put away some laundry....when I looked at her again a few minutes later she was on her back :)
I had forgotten how thrilling these little milestones can be!! Harper looked kind of scared, honestly. Olivia and I danced. I then realized though the roll actually didn't count because her crib mattress was slightly propped up on an angle because she had been getting over a cold. So rather than rolling over on her own, she probably just kind of fell down a slight incline. Is that a milestone?
Well, I had already celebrated rolling over, so we decided (olivia and i) that Wednesday March 7th had to be the day Harper truly and independently rolled over (without the help of an incline). We put her on her tummy on the floor and cheered our hearts out and low and behold....she did it again!! Way to go my little champ! Now, don't get crazy and start rolling from back to tummy because than the combination of these moves could become mobility and I am not ready for that. So just keep laying there kicking your happy kicks and smiling and cooing, and I'll put you on your tummy and let you roll over.......sometimes. We'll wait a little bit longer for mobility, ok? deal.
